Six months ago today, I started my blog. So I wanted to pause our regularly scheduled programing to say Happy Half Birthday MyLifeSuckers!
If my blog was one of my kids, there would be cupcakes and lots of whining and eventually a total meltdown when the expected pile of presents never materialized. (Somehow the idea that a HALF birthday isn’t the same as a BIRTHDAY is a tough one to grasp for the under-five set.) But luckily for me, my blog isn’t one of my kids.
My blog is my baby. My good child. The one who listens and never talks back. The one who does what I tell it to do (when I don’t mess up the html, anyway). I bet if my blog had feet and I asked it to put on it’s shoes, it’d do it without me asking again and again and AGAIN.
My blog was born on a chilly night in early December, 2013. The wind was howling outside. The kids were snuggled in their beds (after a 45-minute knock-down, drag-out bedtime battle). The holiday madness was in full swing. My husband and I had just finished editing our What Does the Kid Say video and popped it up on YouTube so, you know, our 12 friends could watch it. I created MyLifeSuckers as a landing page for the video the night before we pressed “upload” on YouTube, having no idea that more than 12 people would ever see any of it.
What happened next was amazing and exciting and life-altering. The video went viral, the blog took off, and I have been feeling like the luckiest lady on earth ever since.
So Happy Half Birthday MyLifeSuckers. I love you. I love writing you. I love making videos for you. I love all of the folks who visit you. Super big time love them. I LOVE YOU GUYS! Thank you for being here. Thank you for reading my posts and watching my videos. You’ve helped make the first 6 months of MyLifeSuckers absolutely incredible.
